Not only did American Andy Roddick defeat tough Belgian qualifier Xavier Malisse Wednesday in Australia, but he also caught a break with the defeats of both Philipp Kohlschreiber and David Nalbandian. Roddick's draw has now opened up considerably and he appears to have a fairly comfortable path to the quarterfinals.
